Working primarily on litigated matters for insurance clients, you will be joining a strong team of highly experienced Employment specialists in providing clear, concise yet highly commercial advice to the clients. The successful candidate will have the equivalent to 2 years post-qualification experience at least in order to deal effectively with the demands of this busy caseload without requiring excessive supervision. Litigation experience is crucial for this particular role although the department as a whole provides both contentious and non-contentious advice.

We are seeking to appoint a Solicitor to our busy and successful Employment team. In addition to handling a challenging caseload of predominantly contentious matters on behalf of employers and employees the successful applicant will have business development and supervisory responsibilities.
The role will initially be based at our head office in Wood Green but with a view to the entire Employment team moving to an office in central London dedicated solely to Employment law.

Skills and experience:
We are seeking Solicitors with 3-4 years PQE and a good academic background. You will have a good grounding of employment law, ideally with a public sector bias and be keen to develop your knowledge of governance, public sector finance constraints and student issues so you are seen as a natural specialist for complex queries.

You will take on a broad range of work including a high proportion of non-contentious work including corporate/projects support which might involve employment issues surrounding the merger of academic institutions and Local Government PPP projects. You are also likely to be involved in drafting contracts, service agreements, policy review and compromise agreements as well as routine employment related queries including maternity, performance management, sickness and trade union issues.

You will be involved in a variety of ET claims including a significant proportion of discrimination claims often with unrepresented claimants. You will develop a strong understanding of the relevant governance issues which are specific to this client group.
